Former 'Headbangers Ball' Host To Take On GOOD CHARLOTTE's BENJI MADDEN At 'Ellismania 5'

March 22, 2010

Former MTV "Headbangers Ball" host Riki Rachtman will take on GOOD CHARLOTTE's Benji Madden in the main event at "Ellismania 5", the event hosted and promoted by former pro-skateboarder and radio host Jason Ellis. This fight is sure to go down in the history books as it pits "old school" against "new school" in a battle where the opponents "truly hate each other."

"Ellismania 5" will take place April 2-3 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Hard Rock.

Commented Rachtman: "On April 3 I will be in a boxing match at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas. I will be fighting Benji Madden who plays in a band called GOOD CHARLOTTE.

"I have been training hard for nine months now and I think this event will surprise a lot of people.

"This is a major event in my life. Let's be honest. I'm not in my 30s and I have NEVER excelled in any sporting event. I have no problem admitting that because I am proud of myself for trying so many different things.

"I've been in several stock car races in the past year . I love auto racing and am fairly good at it yet I have never won a race.

"I believe this will be the ultimate victory for me. I am confident and want the win more than you can imagine.

"The event is called 'Ellismania 5' and is hosted and promoted by Jason Ellis, a radio host on Sirius radio. He is also my opponent's best friend, so the crowd may favor the other side. Those of you that know me know these are the situations I excel in."

Rachtman is the host of the "Racing Rocks" radio show, which is about to celebrate its seventh anniversary. The program is currently heard on over 100 stations across America. Riki is also a judge on a new television show called "Fast Track to Fame" which airs Monday nights on Speed TV.

Rachtman hosted MTV's heavy metal show "Headbangers Ball" from 1990 to 1995 (replacing Adam Curry). His friend at the time, Axl Rose of GUNS N' ROSES, reportedly was instrumental in Rachtman getting the job at MTV.

Riki made a brief appearance as a wedding guest in GUNS N' ROSES' music video "November Rain".
